About the Typing Requirement
Why I require that students be able to type, for some classes
The main reason for the typing requirement is to allow more efficient use of time in class. Kids who can type can work faster. Also, the teaching assistants and I are in heavy demand during lab time and if we can give instructions and the kids know how to type, we don't get bogged down, and everybody gets more high-quality time.
