Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

(I could make this page visible only to the teaching assistants, but I thought it might interest some students and others, perhaps including some who might want to be future TAs.)

• Be friendly and professional with the students
• Share your love of programming
• Support the instructor, and help keep things moving along the path he is on
• Actively engage with the kids, and learn all their names

• Monitor chat and forums and answer questions
• Walk around and help kids with questions
• Help grade assignments in Moodle
• Arrive at least ten minutes prior to start of class
• Know the material being taught
• Prepare and deliver short lectures in areas of personal interest (optional)
• Know the emergency procedures and location of and phone number of DVC police: 685-1230 x2338 (686-5547 from outside line) and College for Kids office: x2789
