Teaching Assistants

Teaching assistants are volunteers or paid employees age 14 or older. Junior TAs are younger than 14, and in order to be covered by insurance during the program, unfortunately must enroll in and pay for the classes they will be assisting in. (Usually the experience of being an assistant is a valuable one and worth the cost.)

• Enthusiastic about, and skilled with computers and programming
• Experienced with, or able to quickly learn the software we use
  

Responsibilities

TAs and Junior TAs

• Assist with computer, audio/visual equipment setup
  

• Help students in the computer lab
• Arrive at least ten minutes prior to start of class
• Know the material being taught (at least stay a little bit ahead of the students)
  
• Know the emergency procedures and location of and phone number of DVC police: 685-1230 x2338 (686-5547 from outside line) and College for Kids office: x2789

TAs

• May help grade assignments in Moodle
• May monitor chat and forums and answer questions
